I purchased this 12-cell HP battery to replace the worn-out 6-cell that came with my (now) nearly 3-year-old HP dv2000. I've yet to run down the battery completely to check for battery life, but did have it unplugged for a couple of hours and found it to still be above 50%. You're probably not going to get the battery life that the product claims, but it will last far longer than the 6-cell that you may be accustomed to. I would highly recommend this battery if you are in need of a replacement for the laptop models this is compatible with.

You will pay a bit more by going with the actual HP replacement battery as opposed to one of the cheaper, lesser known brands, but I have found it to still be a wise investment, at least in my experience. I had purchased a similar battery from a different manufacturer for around $40 (also reviewed if you check my history) and had that one arrive DOA straight from the box. After that I decided to bite the bullet, spend the extra cash, and get an HP replacement. I am glad I did.

Others reviewers have probably touched on this, but the size of the battery should be mentioned. Given that it is a 12-cell battery, as opposed to the 6-cell that came standard with the computer, it will protrude from the bottom of the laptop once attached, making the rear sit higher than the front. This wasn't an issue for me, in fact I actually prefer it as it seems to keep my laptop better vented and running cooler. Still I have seen some reviewers upset at this. It is the trade-off for extra battery life. If the size is an issue then you would be better served going with the smaller 6-cell model.

It works well, I just did not expect it to bulge out. It is double the thickness so it sits higher in the back now. My son jokes that the laptop will now have better airflow. Don't know if this will help or hurt. I am happy that I have a battery that holds its charge for a decent period of time. -- hp battery
